KISS Lands First Rolling Stone Cover

KISS finally is on the cover of Rolling Stone.

The magazine cover features the original lineup of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss.  The photo was taken in 1975.

Frehley and Criss left the band in the 1980s.  They both returned in the late 1990s, but they were both gone again by the early 2000s.

The cover story spends time on why Frehley and Criss aren't in the band and why they won't reunite to perform on stage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Simmons offers his opinion on Frehley and Criss.  He says they, "no longer deserve to wear the paint...The makeup is earned...Just being there at the beginning is not enough… And if you blow it for yourself, it's your fault. You can’t blame your band members. 'Oh, look what happened to me. Oh, poor me.' Look at my little violin. I have no sympathy."
