The Kinks May Reunite For 50th Anniversary

Brothers Ray and Dave Davies formed The Kinks in 1964.  That makes 2014 the group's 50th anniverary.

But, the band hasn't played together since 1996.

Several reunion rumors have surfaced over the past 18 years.  But, according to Ray Davies, a reunion is “as close as it’s ever been to happening.”  The remaining band members are looking at the group's 50th anniversary as a good reason to get back together.

Davies broke the news to British magazine Uncut (quotes via Billboard).

It sounds like Dave Davies is also on board.  Dave tells Uncut, "I said to Ray I thought that it’d be a great shame if we don’t try and do something."

The Kinks were a part of the mid-1960s "British Invasion."  They had hits with songs like You Really Got Me, Lola, and Tired of Waiting on You.
